I have long used magazine advertisements as source material, sometimes as visual inspiration, sometimes mining colors or logos. I also have often used them as a painting surface. Paint and other materials are applied with a great variety of means and intentions. Sometimes the painting responds directly to a part of the image - isolating, outlining, or obscuring. Sometimes the page is treated as if the image underneath isn't there - as a blank piece of paper for a painting, or a monochrome. Other times the process is extremely free-form and experimental. I have produced thousands of works on magazine pages. They can be displayed individually, in diptychs, in series, or re-bound together as Magazines.
